Set Up an Airsoft Range Right in Your Backyard
One of the most entertaining forms of recreation today is airsoft. This game uses replica firearms that shoot 6 or 8 millimetre plastic pellets. The muzzle velocity of the guns is generally lower than 180 metres each second. This is equivalent to a shooting range of 600 feet, which is considerably safe in controlled environments.
You can play this game right in your own backyard. All you have to do is set up a shooting range. The first thing you have to do is prepare your yard and remove big objects. Make sure there is enough space where you can put targets and cover sacks. When setting up the place, you should consider the probability of ricochet. So, you need to organise the place in a way that you do not harm other people.
You have to create a backstop and proper trap to keep the pellets from hitting nearby spectators. These protection guards may be built from a durable cardboard box, which is filled up with foam or old newspapers. For the backstop, you can use a canvas sheet or carpet. To make sure that your materials are effective in stopping the plastic bullets, test them prior your games.
Do not forget to place cover sacks strategically around the backyard, where you and the other players can hide. If you want to make this yourself, you can fill canvas sacks with sand.
When setting up your backyard, always consider the safety of the players and the audience. But if you do not want to risk hurting the people passing by or the spectators, you can make the setup private. You can put up a huge tent around the area.
